Jesus said that we cannot even see the kingdom of God unless we are born again. We should not be surprised that unbelievers are ridiculing the miracle God performed by moving Trump’s head out of the way of a flying bullet. However, there seem to be Christians who cannot “see” the miracle in this. I am not talking about Christians who don’t believe that God works real-life miracles any longer; I am talking about those who correctly believe that God is in control of every situation, including the one where the bullet was flying. If we believe that God truly is Lord of ALL, then He was in control of that situation as well.
The problem is that we may lose our sense of Awe if we chalk this event off as just another one of God’s wonderful works. It is as if we lost our first love, and our hearts don’t race any longer when we think of our loved ones. Things become commonplace, even though we may still appreciate them. It is like we don’t really “see” the beautiful wife we married even though we still love her.
The reality is that the first love must mature, but our attitude, our love, and our feelings need to mature in step with that, or our love will grow cold.
Now, we need to learn of the power of God by studying the Bible, and in studying the Bible, we will find out that God is eternal, that even time (the ages) was created by Him (Eph 3:9,11) and eternity is the absence of time. Therefore, God knows what would happen in the universe at any location and in any moment of time, for He is not subject to time. He knows the end from the beginning, and He made provision for man’s sin from the foundation of the world (Isa 46:8-10, 1 Pet 1:20, Rev 13:8, Jn 8:58). We need to believe all these things, or we cannot have the trusting faith of little children. But we also need to remember that little children stand in awe of things they have never seen before. The fact that a bullet shot from an easy distance missed its intended target should set us in a state of awe at the wonderful works of our Lord.
In conclusion, you may ask the question: does this mean that God plans to protect Trump further and that he will become the next President of the United States? It does not mean that at all. The only thing we know is that God protected him this time, but we simply don’t know what the future holds. It is not for us to know.
