Subtitle: Rediscovering the True Meaning of Christmas
Excerpt: The article emphasizes the true meaning of Christmas, urging readers to prioritize Jesus Christ over material distractions and remember the significance of his birth and sacrifice.
It’s the day before Christmas. I say this every year: “It’s never felt less like Christmas.” Perhaps I don’t know what Christmas feels like. I’ve bought into the hype of the world, believing that Christmas is all about gorging myself on food that is too rich, sugar overload, blinking lights, spending money, and eating snacks. Mostly, in my mind, it’s all about eating.
This year, although I’ve prepared food ahead of time and made jelly and custard for my husband, there are no snacks, sweets, or salads. It’s time to divorce myself from the worldly views about Christmas and focus on the One who is the only reason for this season.
It’s not about feeding my gut but my spirit. It’s not about blinking lights on a decorated tree. No, it’s about the Light of the World nailed to a tree. It’s not about presents wrapped in colorful paper and ribbons, but the Greatest Gift of God, who came to earth to save my soul. When I look at Christmas this way, then yes, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.
May you have a blessed and joyful Christmas as we celebrate the birth and life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.
