Summarizing the hypocrisy of Charlie Kirk, posthumously.

Below is a short list of some of the quotes alleged to have been made by Charlie Kirk regarding the issue of DEI and Blacks in particular.

  • “If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?” – The Charlie Kirk Show, 12/8/2022
  • “Happening all the time in urban America, prowling blacks go around for fun to go target white people; that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.” – The Charlie Kirk Show 5/19/23
  • “If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder, is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?” – The Charlie Kirk Show 1/3/24
  • “If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.” – The Charlie Kirk Show 7/13/23

Many more quotes claimed to be made by Mr. Kirk on a broad range of controversial topics can be found on this Quora stream.

A Deeper Reality

From years of experience, we all know not to trust all forms of the “news” media, especially social media, which not only has an agenda but is also totally unregulated (including my work at BCW). One would need to see the context of these and other quotes attributed to Kirk to confirm the validity of the sources before offering an educated opinion.

However, more to the point … Charlie Kirk was a sinner before, during, and after he asked the Lord into his heart. From a secular perspective, all Christians are hypocrites, offering the opinion of God from His Word while continuing to do wrong in their (our) own lives. Paul, one of the greatest Christians, made that point so clearly in Romans 7:22-24. Further, even the third thief on the cross, who spent his life in sin, was told by Jesus, “Today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).

Charlie Kirk’s family and ministry, like us all, need continued prayer to rise above hatred and sin (1 John 4:20).

Luke 6:28 - Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.

The Deepest Reality

The greatest point missed in all this back-and-forth vitriol is not the supposed rhetoric from Kirk, but the source of forgiveness for the words he may or may not have used or implied. That forgiveness, from a human perspective, was shown by his wife, Erika, when she, I believe, sincerely forgave his assassin. But much deeper than that is the source of her willingness to make that statement. That source is her faith in the One who forgave Charlie and all who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. That is the basis for eternal life in Heaven, from the forgiveness of the sins of Paul, the thief on the cross, Charlie, Erika, and all who call on His name as sinners saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus. That is eternal forgiveness that comes only from the Creator of the universe.
