A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Many Christians think we need to have a nearly perfect knowledge of the Bible before we can share the gospel message. Those who judge us expect Christians to be sinless in order to be ambassadors for Christ. Otherwise, we are hypocrites, preaching behavior we cannot do ourselves. Some Christians erroneously believe we can reach perfection through the sanctification process in this life. The saved believe our continuing sin nature makes our testimony impotent and so we hide our faith from others. Prayers must be delivered with the artistry of a master orator in order to be worthy of being expressed in public. We are constantly reminded of our failures in our quiet time, our service to the Lord, our worship, our lack of evangelism, our unwillingness or inability to stop destructive behavior. The list of imperfections of the Christian life go on and on.
Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
If God is grace, who is the one making us feel unworthy of His love and eternal provisions?
The reality is that perfect human behavior of any kind, is an oxymoron. It is impossible on this side of the grave and, though it is the target set for us by God in the Bible, He provided His Son as a sacrifice for the certainty that we will never achieve it in practice. However, the Lord also made it clear that perfection is what we will experience, as believers, on the other side of death.
