Perfect Day Ruined By People

Being a hermit is not the answer, however.

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – Summarizing the allegedly fictitious story …

“A perfect day for Paul Jennings was ruined by people, a common occurrence according to surveys. Sociologist Dr. Marvin Stones notes that people have a remarkable power to destroy perfect days.”

So we are past the Christmas family gatherings, over the New Year’s parties, and, for some, on the mend from overeating and drinking. Sitting in our easy chairs reflecting on the past few days and hiding out from the world … at least till Monday. Shortly life begins again.

People are sinners, in need of a Savior. They can be a pain because one or more of these behaviors seem to catch us off guard.

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. - 2 Timothy 3:2-5

The problem with “avoid such people” is that, if we were all honest, we all are those people at one time or another. The Bible is full of verses that call for love of our neighbor, even when they are not our friends.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." - Matthew 5:43-44

As you go back to “normal” life next week … remember that Christians are sinners, and those who are not believers don’t have the same calling as you do to love those who don’t love you.
