Pentecostal Church Doesn’t Notice Riot Is Occurring

Because everyone talking at once fit in perfectly with a typical service.

Excerpt: Closeness with God comes from a daily relationship with Him, not just Sunday worship. It requires submission to His will and embedding Him in every aspect of life.

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – Are you, like I am, one of the “frozen chosen” who stands at the same time, sings when everyone else is singing, and prays silently as the pastor conducts the connection with God on Sunday mornings? Or are you in an active, Holy Ghost-whooping and hollering church, trying to keep up with your pew mates as everyone is speaking in a strange language, running the aisles, falling down shaking, and generally having fun while you are “faking it till you make it”?

Or … regardless of the environment, are you one of those people everyone watches to see what a true child of God looks like? Wouldn’t it be nice if we were all feeling intimate with God, whether in silent prayer or waving our arms like a wild man?

Can I offer a piece of advice to both of us? Closeness with the Lord does not come from a Sunday morning “worship experience,” whether it be tame or wild. It comes from our relationship with Him during the week, in prayer and in the study of His Word. It comes from a true desire to submit to His will over our own. It comes from a commitment to embed Him in every second of our daily lives, as we make thousands of decisions, both big and small. If your experience with God is primarily Sunday mornings, don’t expect intimacy with the Creator of the universe. He demands more of our time and attention than that.
