Jesus Explains To Disciples That They Are Always Sheep In His Parables

Because Sheep Are Really, Really Stupid

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon BeeJesus Explains To Disciples That They Are Always Sheep In His Parables – Because Sheep Are Really, Really Stupid.

So many times we try to put Jesus in the same box we reside in. Mankind uses its current guidelines for morality and social reform as the measuring rod for how God should respond in His Word. And, when we see a different response (examples include abortion, complementarianism, and homosexuality), we either reinterpret the Bible to fit our preconceived notions of how God should be, or reject Scripture entirely, as it was written by man.

There is often no willingness to see ourselves as sheep and Christ as our Shepherd unless we are defining the terms of the agreement. Mankind, in the eyes of an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, supreme Creator of the universe, is like a child (Matthew 19:14), not “stupid” so much as naive and stubborn. There are good reasons why we are the sheep in the parables. Fortunately for us, Christ is the Good Shepherd.

John 10:11 - I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
