Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – The level of trust in the mainstream media has reached a new low with only 31% of Americans expressing a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence “in the media to report the news ‘fully, accurately and fairly.'” Broken down by political affiliation, only 12% of Republicans, 27% of independents, and 54% of Democrats express great or fair confidence. These results were published in October of 2024 by Gallup. Disclosures related to Biden’s deterioration while in office only serves to further deteriorate American trust in their news sources.
Public trust in the federal government has also deteriorated over the last 20 years and currently stands at 22% who say they “trust the government to do what is right just about always/most of the time,” according to Pew Research.
Finally, according to Pew Research, Americans trust each other less than a few decades ago. “The share of adults who said ‘most people can be trusted’ declined from 46% in 1972 to 34% in 2018” and remained at this level through 2024.
We live in a world where few Americans trust each other, our elected leaders, nor the media who is tasked with reporting what is going on in the world around us in an unbiased manner.
It is a time to lean on an omniscient God.
