The basis of Jews traditionally not eating pork comes from….
Leviticus 11:7-8 – And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.
Jewish dietary laws are also restrictive in the consumption of shell fish and the need for specific methods of food preparation (kosher).
These Old Testament laws are not part of a Biblical Christian Worldview because of the added teachings of Jesus in the New Testament.
Mark 7:19 – since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
Acts 10:15 – And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.”
Christ fulfilled the Old Testament laws…
Romans 10:4 – For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
However, this does not create any contradictions between the Old and New Testaments….
Galatians 3:24-26 – So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
