Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – This humorous post from the Bee attracted my attention because it reminded me of the man who God used to draw me to Him, to be saved.
Back in 1988-89, my accountant was a born-again Christian. As I considered him an educated person, it amazed me he could be so gullible as to believe in some supernatural entity that desires to have some control over our daily lives in exchange for the crucifixion of His Son.
One of the more ludicrous things he said to me was that he was in a rush, late for a meeting, and prayed that he would find a parking spot near the building where the meeting was to be held. Not accepting the premise of the “miracle” at face value, I also thought how ridiculous it was that if there was a God, He would be interested in finding parking spaces for His patrons.
Eventually I got saved, and, looking back on that story with some Christian maturity, I realized the deeper point. God loves us and desires a relationship with us. He is not just interested when we pray under the cloud of a crisis, but also that our relationship is so close, so intimate, that even the smallest petition is worth His time.
There is truth in the need for our total dependence on the Lord, because the alternative is to be fatally attracted to the world.
