However, there is a new rising star (Isaiah 14:12) in the earthly arena of evil, the Satanic Grotto. Their mantra is, “only might is right and violence is the ultimate source of all authority.” Their stated goals include, “satanic art and culture, promotion of satanic education and political advocacy” and the group’s tagline on their website is, “Building Satanic Communities & Raising Hell.”

The Satanic Grotto, an anti-Christian hate group, has proclaimed that on March 28, 2025, the Kansas City Capitol will be embraced by, “the black flame of Lucifer.” They have requested and been denied by the city council to be allowed to conduct a “Black Mass” inside the Kansas Capital in Topeka. Since lawmakers have rejected their request, the Satanic Grotto has responded to its members and the public on Facebook by saying …

“Our new plan is twofold … First, we resist …. Our fire and brimstone team is fierce and viscous. We will make that crowd uncomfortable and we will drown out their prayers [Christian counter protesters]. As a bonus we will hand out “mini black mass” kits that can be used anywhere, any time, instructions included. They can stop one black mass but they can’t stop us all. Second, Grotto president Michael Stewart will make good on our ultimatum to the Governor and enter the building at 11:30am on March 28th. Some members have said they will enter, but the Grotto does not encourage anyone to follow without knowing this … We are committing a peaceful act of civil disobedience, this is an illegal act, we are thumbing our noses at the highest authority in our state. You do so at your own risk.

“Join us at the Topeka Capitol building in Kansas as we dedicate the grounds and our legislature to the glory of Satan. We will be performing rites to the Black Mass and indulging in sacrilegious blaspheme. God will fall and Kansas will be embraced by the black flame of Lucifer.”

A Biblical Christian Perspective

There are many unbelievers and even Christians who see this kind of assault as simply an extreme expression of religious freedom. They would argue, if the 10 Commandments can be displayed in a state or federal building, if a Christmas manger scene can be erected, if Christian prayers can be offered, why are other beliefs being barred from participating (details here)? This also happens to be the legal platform of The Satanic Temple and, the new, more aggressive, Satanic Grotto. However, for those who recognize that, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against … the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12), we know there is a much deeper agenda in play. The supernatural realm is just a real and more powerful force (both good and evil) than any earth-bound false teachings. What stands in front of us in the form of these satanic groups is evil personified, attempting to wrap themselves in a cloak of moral relativism.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 – And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

1 Peter 5:8 – Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
