Christian Traditions remain a part of the Inaugural Ceremony

However, not in every case.

However, not in every case.

Part of the ceremony included prayer from Cardinal Dolan and Franklin Graham. Heads were bowed and many (though not all) eyes closed out of respect, not for the human honorees in the room, but for the supreme Leader of mankind, God. Graham began with, “We praise Him and give Him glory.” And, the Him was our Father in Heaven.

Vice-President elect J.D. Vance took the oath of office by raising his right hand in pledge and placing his left hand on his great-grandmother’s Bible (details here).

President elect Donald J. Trump took the oath of office by raising his right hand in pledge, as Melania walked forward with two Bibles, the first the Lincoln Bible (housed in a protected box) and the second, a Bible given to him on his ninth birthday by his mother (details here).

Trump ignored the Bibles and his left hand remained at his side.

In his acceptance speech, President Trump reminded the audience of his assassination attempt. Reflecting on that event, Trump was quoted as saying, “I was saved by God to make America great again.”

“We will not forget our God.” he said twice during his speech.

Below, is a picture of Trump’s FIRST swearing-in ceremony, left hand on the same Bibles. An interesting contrast on many levels.
