A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – So many Biblical Christians get caught up in defining their beliefs through the narrow lens of denominational preference. Pastors, educated and immersed in their specialized Christian denominational turf reinforce these internal traditions, some overtly, some inadvertently. As believers, we end up shooting ourselves in the foot, in front of the lost, defending our secondary viewpoints of Biblical Christianity, not only against a changing secular culture but even against our brothers and sisters whose theology is based on their denominational silo. Things like sprinkle vs. immersion baptism, continuation of sign gifts, predestination vs. free will, etc. become roadblocks for interdenominational brotherhood and a target for the lost to point out our inconsistencies and hypocrisy. There is nothing wrong with denominational differences as long as they don’t impinge on evangelism of the lost and fellowship of believers.
Paul offered the observation that we need to be “all things to all people in order to save some” (1 Cor. 9:22).
Our focus as Biblical Christians should be to unite under a common set of core beliefs, knowing, through faith, that these principles are the basis for salvation and Heaven. Clarity on the rest of our systematic theology will be confirmed on the other side of the grave. And, the only certainty is that we all will be wrong in our theology, somewhere.
