‘Behold, He Is Not Dead, But Merely Sleeping,’

Pastor Declares Before Waking Harold In Back Pew

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee‘Behold, He Is Not Dead, But Merely Sleeping,’ – Pastor Declares Before Waking Harold In Back Pew.

No need for laying on of hands to bring Harold back to life. He just needs to be engaged in the worship of God on a slow Sunday morning. Saturday night was a bit rough and Harold just needs a little shut eye before tackling his Sunday afternoon.

How many pastors and worship leaders look out from the front of the church at blank faces, yawns, eyes half closed, people looking at their cell phones, kids unsettled, babies crying, constant trips to the bathroom, and all the rest of a congregation disengaged.

Is a light show, wild music, flashy graphics, pounding the podium, funny jokes, political controversies, or yelling about eternal damnation the answer? Perhaps a better question is, who is responsible for drowsy congregants? Is it the staff, or the church members themselves?

2 Timothy 4:2 – Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

That is the responsibility of the pastor/worship leader in the equation. The rest is between the congregant and the Holy Spirit.
