Are You A Woman? 12 Signs To Look For

Offering a theologically deeper point than simply athletic competition.

Excerpt: The article discusses secular morality’s fluidity, conflicting with Biblical teachings, using a Supreme Court case on trans-female athletes as an example.

Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – Of the 12 humorous qualifiers for determining what a woman is, the answer to the last question is perhaps the most definitive.

Do you have two X chromosomes?

The Supreme Court justice, Samuel Alito, in an attempt to adjudicate the rights of trans-female athletes (Little v. Hecox), tried unsuccessfully to obtain a definition of what a woman is from the attorney, Kathleen Hartnett, who brought the suit on behalf of her trans client. Ms. Hartnett’s response was, “We do not have a definition for the court,” to which Alito stated the obvious question, “How can a court determine whether there’s discrimination on the basis of sex without knowing what sex means for equal protection purposes?”

Four years ago, and assuming a pre-Trump first-term Supreme Court, there would be little question on how the case would have been decided… in favor of the trans athlete. Today, with a more conservative court and current polling (even from NBC News reporting), “overall, 75% of American adults say trans women shouldn’t be allowed to play on female sports teams.”

And then there was the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing on abortion where Josh Hawley asked the question, “Can men get pregnant?” Directed to Dr. Nisha Verma, the senior adviser for Physicians for Reproductive Health. She refused to answer with a requested “yes” or “no.”

The Point

The point of this short post is not about the definition of what a woman is, nor is it about trans athletes and sports. The point is that secular morality is in a constant state of flux as we sinful humans attempt to decide right from wrong. And, for those who are attracted to Christianity, selective use of the Bible is intended to provide moral coverage for our own secular decisions. Many progressive Christians ignore Scripture, which clearly defines male and female and the sin of homosexuality, and prefer to focus on verses such as Luke 10:27b as their sole theology.

To understand God’s worldview to any significant degree requires a submissive reading of His total Word, rather than plucking verses that seem, on the surface, to fit our predetermined worldview.
