In the spiritual realm, there are only two opposing forces: God and the evil one. Therefore, it is important that we choose the correct God to worship and to offer up prayers to.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. - James 5:16
Logically, if we are not praying to the Creator of the universe, there is little or no power in our prayers. And what power that may be present is satanic, which leads to destruction.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8
What keeps mankind out of the “underworld” after physical death is Jesus Christ, who lived the only sinless life on earth and then died and rose again as payment for our sins. It is this God, and His Father, who we need to be praying to in order to be “prayer conditioned” for eternal life in Heaven.
When trouble comes your way and, in desperation, you bow your head in prayer and seek a higher power to give you strength … reflect on which god or God you are asking for help. Both have the power to help, but only the One truly has your best interest at heart.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12
