Theology on the Lighter Side – How do you know God is a baseball fan? – Because the Bible starts with, “In the big inning…”
As bad as these jokes are, you have no idea how many on the internet I skip over because they are worse.
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
This verse is a simple and clear statement offering the Biblical Christian worldview that God exists outside of the physical realm, and time as we know it. It was from that position that He created the universe. Secular humanists, on the other hand, engage in the religious belief that there was a dot, that came from somewhere, which exploded and created all the galaxies and planets in the universe.
It is easy to understand that if one believes in a Creator of “heavens and the earth,” it is logical, or at least possible, that He has enough interest in His creation (mankind) to wish to communicate with us, offering guidance (Holy Spirit) through life and even an instruction manual (the Bible) geared down to such a level of simplicity that we have the potential to grasp.
It is also easy to understand that if one believes in the unexplained appearance of an exploding dot, that the order of the universe does not come from a Creator but the randomness of physics and probability tables.
Each of us gets to make a choice between a Creator and a dot. If the dot is the answer, then secular humanism is the solution to the puzzle of life. If the Creator is the answer, then one needs to seek out this God and align with Him.
