Theology on the Lighter Side – What kind of cell phone did Delilah use? – A Samson-galaxy!
Of course, the story of Delilah and Samson can be found in the book of Judges, chapter sixteen. Samson’s love for Delilah blinded him to her treachery, when he finally disclosed how he could be defeated. The story has application for us today. As Christians we can be blinded by idols in our lives, the desire for material success, even the infatuation of each other, and miss out on the power the Holy Spirit offers us as a stop-gap to our sin nature.
Further, Satan and his minions will use those areas in our lives where we have our greatest weaknesses to fall away from our calling from God. So, be on guard against your own human nature and the temptations of the evil one.
Ephesians 6:12 – For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
1 John 1:8 – If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
