In the Midst of Turmoil

He Removes Kings and He Raises up Kings

If you have followed my stories you know they are mostly about ways in which God has spoken into my imperfect life. I am not an intellectual nor am I an eloquent speaker. I have sat on these few scriptures for months, unable to formulate the message. But God.

These few scriptures were given to me over a period of many years. All carrying the same message. God waits. He has a plan. He is our King, our supreme authority.

I present these scriptures realizing there is background which surrounds all of them, yet these scriptures have stood alone in presenting me with a continued, singular message.

Many years ago, the leader of my Bible study group picked Genesis as our next book of study. At the time, I thought I knew Genesis and wasn’t that enthusiastic, but we went forward. Nine months in this study brought forth new life. I received so many amazing revelations which I had somehow failed to really grasp before. One scripture was just one of curiosity that got my attention.

But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete. Genesis 15:16

Hmm? The inquity of the Amorites was not yet complete. God waits.

Several years later I was in the book of Daniel and another scripture was “hightlighted” to me.

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their fullness, A king shall arise, having fierce features, Who understands sinister schemes. Daniel 8:23

When the transgressors have reached their fullness. I was excited to find this same theme. God waits.

In more recent years I saw this scripture in 1 Thessalonians.

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost. 1 Thessalonians 2:16

To fill up the measure of their sins sounds much like a continuation of that same theme.

Last week this scripture was revealed to me, again, but with more force.

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever for wisdom and might are His, And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:20–22

Very excited about these scriptures. I don’t know how you, the readers, interpret this scripture thread but to me they say, “God has allowed the Clinton, the Obama, the Biden and Trump administrations to have their positions of leadership. I can rest assured that even in what I don’t understand or agree with, God is the One on the throne. His ways, His timing is perfect. His plan will prevail. Lately, I am made so aware of His desire for a people who will choose Him. He wants to share His light with us. His desire will be fulfilled.

The major plan remains the same that people will choose Him. In the midst of darkness His light shines brightest. Our role is to to put aside the distractions, pray, trust, focus on Him. A quote from the teachings of Bill Johnson of Bethel in Redding, CA, has stayed with me for years and this morning resurfaces. “We can practice the problem or we can practice the Presence.”

Reading Hebrews Chapter 11 this morning I am reminded that none of these people of faith knew the next step. They walked in faith led by the Spirit. I had a little reminder this week. I am not led by my feelings but by the Holy Spirit.

So no wonder we don’t give up. For even though our outer person gradually wears out, our inner being is renewed every single day. We view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity. We see our difficulties as the substance that produces for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16–18
