Words of Wisdom from the Babylon Bee – How many of us put fish symbols on the back of our cars, on our mailboxes, doors, entry flags, and other places of general viewing. We think we are “sharing the gospel” or “opening a Christian conversation” by doing so.
Then we speed past people, blast our horns in traffic, are heard yelling at our kids, observed in all manner of other unloving behaviors while the outside world looks at the fish symbol and calls us hypocrites.
If we are going to use Scripture license plates and other forms of identifying who we are in public, we need to act like Christians. Otherwise, we are hurting the testimony of the Good News of Jesus Christ, often without even realizing it.
That also applies to the plumber, and all others who deal with the public. If we are going to leave Bibles in our waiting rooms and put fish and Bible verses on our business cards, we need to do quality work for a reasonable price, and be responsive to the needs of our customers. The best sign of “loving our neighbors” is to do right by them. The reputation we build is for God’s glory and our opportunity to be His ambassadors in the workplace and in the public arena of life.
