Faith into Action

Ask God for opportunities to put your faith into action. Then go and take action.

Scripture

Our verse for today comes from Daniel 2:17, ” Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions. “

Background

I know there are many of you out there. You are the ones whose image appears when looking up the phrase, ” Cart before the horse. ” You are impulsive and spontaneous. Your opposites would call you careless, reckless, or foolhardy. Your comrades prefer to be thought of as uninhibited, free-spirited, and passionate. When things don’t turn out well, you’re rash. When it falls into place, you’re impetuous. Oftentimes, the snap decisions and immediate responses come from a deep sense of assurance and resolve. You have confidence and determination, and no set of circumstances can overwhelm your resolute purpose. These traits make for excellent entrepreneurs. Countless success stories are found at the top of the piles of numerous failures. But when it comes to your faith, the impulses and spontaneity may not be quite so apparent. Somehow, the biblical advice to wait on God has been warped into a call to do nothing until God Himself calls down from heaven with explicit details as to your next step. There is such a fear of pursuing a cause that God may not be in, where God’s name may be tarnished by poor results or a complete lack of accomplishment, that we don’t do anything unless God drags us into it with both hands. Both ends of the extremes know that complete hesitancy and reckless abandon are probably not God’s supreme intents. But when faced with the world that you see outside your window, that you shudder to imagine its future if the current continues as it’s going, which way would God have us lean?

Application

Daniel told the king he would reveal to him his dream and interpret it for him. Then, he went home and joined with his friends in prayer as he sought God’s wisdom and revelation. Was he foolhardy or full of faith? Was it a rash move or a bold declaration? If your heart is submitted to the Spirit of God, I would wager there’s some of both in your life. Trust God, and let Him decide where the cart goes.

Charge

As we seek Him today, ask God for opportunities to put your faith into action. Then go and take action.
