Quick Quote – Source – Jeff Hilles
A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Webster offers two definitions for the word “punishment”. “a: suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution, and b: a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure”.
Our Lord is a loving God, but He is also a righteous God. The sins we commit will result in some form of retribution. If we have been saved, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, that punishment will come within the boundaries of sanctification (Rev. 3:19). If we have not accepted Christ as our Savior and Lord, that punishment may not become fully apparent on this side of the grave (Matt. 10:28).
